Innovation, Creativity and Resourcefulness are the names of the Game.
PHA believes that paying it forward is the key to educating the masses. Several times a year we gather at our Art Center in the Clercine District, at Haiti Communitere to offer lessons, tutorials and to-go packets for teachers and community leaders to unroll in their own communities.
We’ve started a teacher training program for Haitian teachers, educators and the like. We hope the information and activities that we share with our teachers will spread to their students and from the students to their families creating a network of ideas to help improve the quality of life for everyone.
Equally, the PHA volunteers who lead the training also learn from the participants about their classroom challenges, obstacles and needs. In this system, everyone is a student, everyone is a teacher and everyone has a chance to creatively problem solve together!
PHA held its first teacher training at Haiti Communitere in January 2013. 28 teachers participated in a morning art lesson which included basic drawing skills and color theory, and an afternoon science lesson complete with Moringa smoothies and robot tin can planters. Each participant left with a PHA-published book about Moringa trees and nutrition, Moringa powder and seeds, and a supply of art ideas that they can use with their students.
Stay tuned for more upcoming workshops!
